Meet The Artists: Andy Greene
Hiya! My name is Andy Greene (he/they), and I’m a writer, director and actor. I live in glittering
Glendale, CA with my partner Lili and our monstrous cat Blondie.
My life was changed forever by three things: greek yogurt, backpacking and Dawson’s Creek, the
greatest show of all-time. I tore up my acceptance letter to University of Washington (my
hometown college) and went to Ithaca College to major in Sport Management and become the
GM of the Seattle Mariners. Instead, I became an artist, on a forever journey to remember the
child inside.
When I moved to LA nearly 13 (!) years ago, my first job was writing online content for Famous
Monsters of Filmland, the world’s first horror fan magazine. This is what introduced me to the
horror genre, which is what inspired me to stop waiting and make movies myself.
I made my directorial debut this year with Contraction, a short psychological thriller starring
Liesel Hlista (The Newsroom). I wrote, directed and executive produced the project, which is
now available on Crypt TV! AHH.
Prior to Contraction, I wrote the Western short film Harsh Wilderness and was the creator-host
of the lo-fi YouTube talk show, Movies with Friends, a show that brought holidays, movies, pals
and small, queer BIPOC businesses together for charity. I’m ready to jump back into the saddle if
you’re ready to produce it.
I am also the host and creator of The Naked Man Podcast, a mental health odyssey that explores
vulnerability and masculinity by confronting what scares me through interviews and
monologues.
I am represented by the wonderfully supportive Jolene Haley of the Donald Maass Agency. We
are currently shopping oodles of picture book manuscripts to editors and publishers. I’ve also
written short fantasy fiction for the D&D-like fantasy world, Ballads of the Distant Reaches. You
can find my intense musings on movies and life on my Medium page.
In my past lives, I was one-half of the Gossip Guys Podcast, I measured sidewalks for the city of
Seattle and I was DrDoom2099 on the long defunct Marvel.com message boards. I have still
never read a single issue of any comic featuring Doctor Doom 2099.
